It’s been several weeks since I updated the status of my Victory Garden. It’s not easy to photograph all of the plants, everything is thriving except for the yellow squash which I think got root bound by the flowers and herbs surrounding it. On a positive note the garden currently has: strawberries (if I could only harvest them before the armadillos), half a dozen ears of sweet corn, cantaloupes (the vines of which are trying to take over the entire garden) a bunch of sweet and jalapeno peppers, white beans, artichokes, cucumbers, acorn squash, asparagus, tomatoes, red onions, an assortment of herbs and of course my Russian Mammoth sunflowers which I have been anxiously waiting to bloom. For me the Victory Garden is therapeutic and represents a personal success beating all odds and enjoying one of life’s many pleasures.
